BREXIT CRISIS

THERESA MAY FAILED TO GIVE LAWFUL NOTICE

The UK faces a serious constitutional crisis. The Prime Minister did not invoke Article 50 as required by law. The letter she signed on 28 March 2017 had no legal force, meaning that the UK is unable to leave the European Union as decided by voters on 23 June 2016. Despite all that has gone on, the country is still at "square one". The Government has refused to recognise the problem, hoping that it will somehow go away. A handful of Ministers have covered up for Theresa May. She refuses to resign. The extent of Theresa May's dishonesty over her errors of judgement and her failures to get things right is breathtaking. She should have informed members of the Cabinet about the problems on 18 April 2017 but instead called for an early general election. The next day - when she should have accounted for her failures to the House of Commons, and faced a vote of "No Confidence" - she said nothing and secured support for a wholly unnecessary and very costly general election. She acted in abuse of power. If the Government does not face up to this issue, Brexit will come to a shuddering halt when any proposed deal goes to the European Parliament. It is not legally possible for it to give its consent for any withdrawal agreement to be concluded. By that time, of course, businesses will have taken important planning and investment decisions based on the claimed "certainty" that Theresa May said came with the securing of support for the transition to phase 2 of the Brexit negotiations. She is exposing businesses to the risk of huge financial losses, and that could result in major legal claims for damages. She is playing with people's jobs and livelihoods. The scale of potential litigation and the impact of Theresa May's incompetence and dishonesty is huge. The proof of Theresa May's unlawfulness is set out in the documents available on this website. Feel free to open, download and read those documents. Together, they prove the unlawfulness and point to a way through the crisis which Theresa May has caused. This is not just about Brexit. It is about dealing with dishonesty and corruption at the top of government. It is about democracy and the rule of law. As you will see from the evidence, Jeremy Corbyn has known about this for more than a year but has repeatedly failed to act properly as the Leader of the Opposition and hold the Prime Minister to account. He too should resign.  JFB
